Regency International House
Regency International House is located
on the TAFE SA Regency Campus,
just 15 minutes from the Adelaide
Central Business District and provides
housing for international students.
Close to public transport, shopping
centres and a wide variety of
multicultural restaurants, it’s the
perfect location for international
students studying at many of
TAFE SA’s metropolitan campuses.
Security
With a full-time manager overseeing
all matters relating to students, and a
member of staff on site 24 hours a day,
7 days a week, you can be sure that
there will always be someone around
should an emergency arise.
Comfort
Each villa at Regency International
House is light, bright and airy and
comes fully furnished. Villas are more
than 100 square metres in size and
house four students – all with their
own private bedroom including a
telephone, computer and wireless
internet connection. Each villa has two
ensuite bathrooms, a sitting room and
a kitchenette for light meals or a late-
night snack. Laundry facilities are also
included and are shared within each
complex consisting of four villas.
Care
Included in the weekly accommodation
rate are 3 meals a day which are
prepared and made on-site in the
commercial kitchen. Students make
their selection from the cafeteria-style
kitchen and eat, usually with friends,
in the communal dining room, or if
they study at a campus other than
Regency, lunch can be packed for
them to take away. The menu is varied
and changes on a regular basis taking
into account different tastes and
cultural diversity.
Also included in the monthly rate are all
utility costs (water, electricity etc.) and
cleaning of the villas once a week so
that students have more time to focus
on what’s really important.
Lifestyle
The student common room, dining
room, tutorial room and computer
suite (all open 24 hours a day) are
located in the main Administration
block. Other facilities include a Muslim
prayer room and a games room –
a popular retreat for students, with
a pool table, table-tennis and other
activities available within it. Amongst
the landscaped surrounds of Regency
International House are basketball and
tennis courts available for the sole use
of RIH residents.
Regency International House also
organises and promotes social
activities and outings for students on
weekends and holidays which helps
to balance the demands of study and
assists in building a friendly and social
community amongst the residents
allowing students to form friendships
for life.

Homestay
Homestay is where you live with an
Australian host family. Host families
are located all over Adelaide and
throughout the state.
These are welcoming environments
where you have the chance to really
experience Australian life and practice
your English language skills.
Most homestay hosts offer dining
options which may mean that your
meals are prepared for you or you
may need to provide and prepare your
own food.
As a homestay student you will have
a bedroom with linen, a place to
study and will share the bathroom/s,
kitchen and other facilities with the
homestay family.
All homestay families are different; they
may be a couple, a family with children
or a single person. Many Australian
families have pets including dogs. You
will be a part of the household and so
will need to look after your own needs
and may be responsible for keeping
your room tidy and doing your laundry.

Private rental
A private rental allows you to choose
where you want to live - in the city,
near your campus, friends or work or
maybe near the beach. You’ll need
to pay your weekly rent and utilities
such as electricity, gas, water and
telephone.
The style of accommodation (house or
apartment) and rent payable will vary
from suburb to suburb. You may need
to sign a rental agreement (lease) with
the owner (landlord) and pay some
rent in advance (bond). Once you
have signed a lease you are a tenant
of the property. As a tenant you have
certain rights under Australian law
and your rental bond is refundable
to you at the end of your lease if the
lease conditions are met. For further
information about your rights as a

Students often share a house and
you can expect to have a bedroom
to yourself, but share the rest of the
house and expenses (electricity, gas
and water) with the other people living
there. If you rent a room in a share
house, you may pay more if the room
is furnished or utilities are included
in the weekly rental cost. Sharing
can be the cheapest option but it
is important to have a clear idea of
how chores and bills will be divided.
It should also be noted that share
accommodation can sometimes mean
you are sharing a room with someone
with little to no privacy (such as a
backpackers hostel).
