Before starting the
Advanced Diploma of
Accounting at TAFE SA
I needed to improve my
English skills. The EAP
course improved my social
communication skills. I am
now a lot more confident
interacting with my class
mates and lecturer.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
courses are designed for upper intermediate level
International students who are planning to do
further study in a TAFE SA Award or university
course, and provide the necessary academic
English skills required for this purpose.
The course aims to prepare students to be
successful in interacting with native speakers
and teachers in TAFE SA Award courses and
also prepares them for study in other academic
institutions both in Australia and internationally.
Successful completion of an EAP course can
provide a direct pathway to most TAFE SA award
courses, and students who have successfully
gained a credit result in the EAP (20 weeks)
will satisfy the English language entry criteria
for award courses which require 6.0 IELTS or
equivalent entry.
The course has a focus on:
>> Developing high-level academic skills:
writing, listening and note taking, reading,
comprehension; research skills, academic
language for oral presentations and seminars,
study skills and group work
>> Developing grammar, topic pronunciation and
computer literacy
>> Developing your vocabulary for your future
award course.
