Work rights
All student visa holders will receive
automatic work rights which will
allow them to work during their time
in Australia. Students are limited to
working 40 hours per fortnight while
their course is in session. Students’
working hours are calculated from
Monday to Sunday.
While TAFE SA does not organise
employment, many international
students find work in the retail, tourism
and hospitality industries.

Orientation program
Orientation programs are held at the
beginning of each semester over two
days for students commencing their
studies with TAFE SA.
During the orientation program
students are shown around the
campus, meet other students and
lecturers, start to make friends and get
familiar with TAFE SA and Adelaide.
The International Student Orientation
Programs are organised by the TAFE
SA International Unit and attendance
is compulsory. Course areas also
hold a student induction which covers
course, study and assessment
expectations and research skills.

International) to provide TAFE SA
international students with a range of
orientation, settlement and support
services to help them find their way in
a new city, feel at home and meet new

MYSA International is a not-for-profit,
non-government organisation that
was established in 1997. MYSA
International is the state advisory,
advocacy and service delivery body
for young people from multicultural
backgrounds and is now expanding
to provide orientation and settlement
support to international students.
