COURSE DESCRIPTION/SKILLS COVERED
This course leads to the application of computers
and networked microcontrollers in engineering
environments, to sense and control equipment in
service industries in mining and manufacturing.
It develops skills to select, install, commission
and maintain computer equipment and systems.
Learn how to program microcontrollers in
assembly language and C, program in Java,
administer networks using Windows Server,
and redesign them to interconnect with Linux or
Mac operating systems. You study in a Flexible
Learning Lab designed to support self-paced
study, with a variety of learning resources and
lecturers facilitating your study.

more. It develops skills to select, commission,
maintain and diagnose malfunctions of electronic
sub-assemblies and systems. Learn how
to construct, test and modify the design of
electronic circuits like amplifiers, microcontroller-
based systems and power supplies. Write
computer programs to control hardware and set
up a web page to access it remotely.
Your learning will be enhanced by combining
lectures with practical laboratory and workshop
sessions, including simulation tools.
