ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Academic IELTS score of 6.0 overall with minimum of 5.5 in all bands or equivalent. Satisfactory
completion of Year 12 or overseas equivalent and ability to meet the physical demands of nursing work,
particularly the requirements of manual handling.
Students intending to undertake the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing) after the
Certificate III in Aged Care will only be able to do so if they satisfy the entry criteria for the Diploma of
Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing).
COURSE DESCRIPTION/SKILLS COVERED
21 core units: Confirm physical health status; analyse health information; work in the nursing profession;
apply effective communication skills in nursing practice; contribute to client assessment and developing
nursing care plans; implement and evaluate a plan of nursing care; contribute to the complex nursing
care of clients; apply principles of wound management in the clinical environment; administer and
monitor medications in the work environment; apply reflective practice, critical thinking and analysis
in health; apply legal and ethical parameters to nursing practice; Implement and monitor nursing care
for consumers with mental health conditions; implement and monitor nursing care for clients with
acute health problems; implement and monitor nursing care for clients with chronic health problems;
implement and monitor nursing care for older clients; apply understanding of the Australian health care
system; apply first aid; work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers; work effectively
with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people; comply with infection control policies and
procedures; contribute to WHS processes; plus 5 elective units. 400 hours of Professional Experience
Placement will be required.

CAREER PATHWAYS
This qualification covers the application of nursing skills and knowledge required to be eligible for
registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia in line with some state/territory nursing
and midwifery regulatory authorities.

Students undertaking the combined Certificate
IV in Massage Therapy Practice and the Diploma
of Remedial Massage will complete both
qualifications within 18 months (3 semesters of
study) at a cost of $21,750. In the 2nd semester
of study students will complete topics from both
qualifications.

massage treatment; apply massage assessment
framework; and perform massage health
assessment.

CAREER PATHWAYS
This qualification covers work as basic level
massage therapists. It provides skills in
therapeutic relaxation massage including basic
health assessment and treatment and may be
used by people working:
>> Within a clinic or in their own clinic
>> In an aged care facility
>> In a health service
>> In a spa facility or
>> In a palliative care facility or hospital.
