COURSE DESCRIPTION/SKILLS COVERED
9 core units: Work within a community
development framework; identify and respond to
children and young people at risk; use targeted
communication skills to build relationships; work
within a relevant legal and ethical framework;
work effectively in the community sector; deliver
and develop client services; respond holistically
to client issues and refer appropriately; maintain
an effective work environment; work effectively
with culturally diverse clients and co-workers;
plus 5 elective units.

CAREER PATHWAYS
This qualification applies to workers who provide
a wide range of services and interventions to
clients, and/or who implement community based
education and interventions. Work may take

based organisations, residential rehabilitation
services and outreach services and workers may
have supervisory responsibilities.

development strategies; develop, facilitate
and monitor all aspects of case management;

workplace communication; conduct complex
assessment and referral; work within a structured
counselling framework; work intensively with
clients; plan and conduct group activities;
confirm client developmental status; analyse
impacts of sociological factors on clients in
community work and services; reflect on and
improve own professional practice; contribute to
WHS processes; plus 7 core elective units.

Students intending to undertake the Diploma of
Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing) after the
Certificate III in Aged Care will only be able to do
so if they satisfy the entry criteria for the Diploma
of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing). The
Diploma entry criteria is: Successful completion
of Year 12 or overseas equivalent, and academic
IELTS score of 6.0 Overall with minimum of 5.5 in
all bands or equivalent.
COURSE DESCRIPTION/SKILLS COVERED
10 core units: Support older people to maintain
their independence; work effectively with older
people; provide support to people living with
dementia; work effectively in the community
sector; provide support to meet personal care
needs; participate in the implementation of
individualised plans; support individual health
and emotional well-being; follow WHS safety
procedures for direct care work; deliver care
services using a palliative approach; recognise
healthy body systems in a health care context;
plus 4 electives.
