This course is the ideal pathway into the multimedia and web development industry. Learning the
tools and techniques required to use industry standard web and multimedia applications, students
will learn and work on industry current tasks performed in the workplace.
Cutting edge, industry standard technology will be explained including: web design/development;
content management systems; online stores; custom built mobile applications for Android and iOS
iPad and iPhone; distribution of mobile applications for the Android market and iTunes apps store;
social network marketing skills for business; 3D modelling and gaming; and video production and
motion graphics.
Up-to-date Mac and PC labs will be available, enabling students to become versatile web/multimedia
designers and developers. Possible career opportunities for graduates: Web designer/ developer,
mobile applications designer/ developer/ programmer, iOS application developer for iPad and
iPhone, Android application developer, graphic design assistant, digital media designer/ developer/
programmer, digital media producer.
On completion of either Certificate IV in Digital and Interactive Games/Certificate IV in Digital
Media Technologies or the Certificate IV in Web-Based Technologies/Certificate IV in Digital Media
Technologies students are eligible to the Diploma of Digital Media Technologies

This course is the ideal pathway into designing and constructing networks. Students will be involved
in constructing large wired and wireless networks, intranets and large scale networks.
Students will develop skills in network design, large scale server management and virtualisation,
cloud computing and VOIP technologies. They will also have the opportunity to develop management
skills as they work in up to date networking laboratories with current industry standard equipment
and technologies.
Possible career opportunities for graduates: Network administrator; Network security administrator;
Network technician; Network support; Communications solutions provider; Cloud computing.
On successful completion of the Diploma of Information Technology (Networking) at Holmesglen,
students could apply for a credit pathway into Deakin University’s Bachelor of Information
Technology. Applications will be assessed on an individual basis.

This course is the ideal pathway into designing and developing computer software. Students will
be introduced to mobile application development and web programming. In addition, there will
be opportunity to develop high level Java programming skills and to be introduced to developing
software applications for cloud services.
Up to date programming labs and industry standard software development environments will all be
available in this course.
Possible career opportunities for graduates: Mobile application developer; Android app developer;
Apple IOS developer; Programmer; Web programmer.
On successful completion of the Diploma of Software Development at Holmesglen, students could
apply for a credit pathway into Deakin University’s Bachelor of Information Technology. Applications

The Professional Year is a 12 month job preparedness program designed to enhance the ICT
graduate’s ability to obtain employment in their chosen discipline by applying his or her technical
skills and knowledge in the Australian workplace whilst also helping to address Australia’s ICT skills
shortage.
Holmesglen is accredited by the Australian Computer Society to deliver the Professional Year
Program in ICT and conforms to the requirements of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship
(DIAC) as a recognised pathway to obtaining points toward migration to Australia. General Skilled
Migration applicants will be awarded 5 points for the completion of Holmesglen’s approved
Professional Year.
The course is 44 weeks in duration and is conducted on Saturdays from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm and
1.30-5.30 pm. There is an internship placement of 12 weeks. During the internship, students will be
working normal business hours
