Academic IELTS score of 5.5 overall with minimum of
5.0 in all bands or equivalent. Satisfactory completion
of Year 12 or overseas equivalent.
COURSE DESCRIPTION/SKILLS COVERED
10 core units: explore and apply the creative
design process to 2D forms; explore and apply the
creative design process to 3D forms; establish,
negotiate and refine a design brief; select and
apply drawing techniques and media to represent
and communicate the concept; produce technical
drawings; research, analyse and apply colour
for interior spaces; decorate residential interiors;
participate in environmentally sustainable work
practices; plus 19 elective units.

14 core units: Explore and apply the creative
design process to 2D forms; explore and apply the
creative design process to 3D forms; establish,
negotiate and refine a design brief; manage design
realisation; select and apply drawing techniques and
media to represent and communicate the concept;
produce technical drawings; research, analyse and
apply colour for interior spaces; determine OHS
implications of interior effects; design residential
interiors; evaluate site for interior design brief;
design for small to medium scale commercial
or institutional interiors; resolve complex spatial
problems through modelling; apply 3-D visualisation
techniques to represent interior designs; participate
in environmentally sustainable work practices; plus
25 elective units.

Before I started the course I had never heard that
buildings could be built to consume less energy and
why that was important. The TAFE SA course opened
my eyes to the importance of creating buildings that
consume less energy from the environment.
The TAFE SA course has put me at the front of the pack
in understanding the ways properties can be designed
to consume less energy.
