ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Satisfactory completion of Certificate III in
Footwear Production. Academic IELTS score of
5.5 overall with minimum of 5.0 in all bands or
equivalent.
COURSE DESCRIPTION/SKILLS COVERED
25 units: follow defined OH&S policies and
procedures; apply quality standards; work in
the textiles, clothing and footwear industry;
identify materials used in footwear production;
participate in environmentally sustainable work
practises; cut leather by hand; operate machine
to sew upper; perform stuff cutting; machine
upper according to product requirements; hand
last shoe; organise and plan own work; perform
table-based operations; cut non-printed leather
by machine; apply foot anatomy principles to
footwear production; estimate and cost shoe;
perform footwear finishing operations; prepare,
cut and sew; assemble shoe by hand; sew
leather by hand; develop design for custom-
made footwear; fit custom-made footwear;
make patterns for custom-made footwear; plan
and implement production in a work-based
environment; assemble and finish custom-made
shoes; undertake small business planning.
Students produce a range of 3-4 pairs of shoes
to their own designs, as well as 1 (one) pair of
boots, as part of their industry project work with
Rossi Boots.
