The University of Queensland recognises
the
30954QLD Certificate IV in University
Preparation
offered by International
Education Services (IES) as the exclusive
Foundation Year for international
students for entry into the first year of all
undergraduate programs.
The Foundation Year provides a bridge
between your secondary (high-school) studies
and undergraduate study at The University
of Queensland. If you achieve specified
standards you will receive a
30954QLD
Certificate IV in University Preparation
and are
guaranteed an offer into UQ’s corresponding
undergraduate programs*.
The Foundation Year program has two
compulsory and three elective subjects,
which will improve your communication
skills and technical vocabulary. Foundation
Year also provides intensive English
language instruction designed specifically for
international students.
The environment in Foundation Year is
truly international, with enrolments from
more than 40 countries. You will receive a
high level of individual attention and will find
it easy to make friends.
Foundation Year provides ongoing support
services throughout your foundation and
undergraduate studies, including:
– airport reception
– Orientation program
– accommodation placement service
– student counselling and career advice
– a self-access centre and access to the
University Library
– access to computers and high-speed
Internet connection plus free email accounts
– visits to UQ faculties to discuss program
structures and related issues
– remedial tutoring for students
experiencing difficulties with their studies
– extensive student activities and a
recreation program.

programs, you will become part of an

Programs
You can choose from three programs:
Standard, Standard Plus or Express. While
most students enter the Standard program,
if you can demonstrate ability above the
normal entry requirements you can fast-
track your studies and enrol in the Express
program. It covers the same content and
assessment as the Standard program but in
a shorter and more intensive format.
If you are a younger student, have high
academic aspirations (e.g., Pharmacy,
Veterinary Science) or need to increase your
English language competency, the Standard
PLUS will meet your needs.

UQ College offers an alternative entry
for international students wishing to
study business.
Associate Degree in Business
By choosing to study this 16-month (four
trimesters) UQ-accredited Associate
Degree in Business (AD(B)), you will gain a
strong stand-alone qualification.
If you complete the AD(B) with a
cumulative grade point average of 4 (on
a 7-point scale), you may also be eligible
to apply for UQ’s Bachelor of Business
Management (BBM) and receive 24 units
of credit (three semesters full-time) towards
the BBM.
The AD(B) is designed for business
leaders and managers of the future and will
give you the necessary knowledge, skills
and self-confidence to successfully manage
within a constantly changing business
environment.
