needs of Australia’s partner countries in line with
bilateral and regional agreements.
They provide opportunities for people
from developing countries to undertake
full-time postgraduate study at participating
Australian universities.
The study and research opportunities
provided by Australia Awards Scholarships
develop skills and knowledge for individuals
to drive change and contribute to the
development outcomes of their own country.
The Awards include payment of tuition fees,
airfares, living allowance and health care cover.
UQ is a participating institution and has
hosted Australian Government-sponsored
students for more than 50 years. As well as
administering the scholarships, UQ offers

PhD, Australia Awards recipient
“I’ve always been passionate about
agriculture, in farming systems research
in particular. While searching for
universities with a good and challenging
PhD program in Agricultural Sciences,
I found UQ. I am just amazed by the
learning facilities, size and architecture of
the St Lucia campus, and particularly the
multidisciplinary learning and research
environment that I have found at QAAFI.”
