PATHWAYS TOUQ
If you meet
all the academic entry
requirements
for your UQ program (see
program details on pages 28-55), but need
further English language training, then you
are eligible to undertake an English language
pathway.
English language pathway students
receive a Package Offer to UQ which
includes an offer for a place in an ICTE-UQ
English course plus an offer for a place in
a UQ program (conditional on meeting the
English language profciency requirements
for entry).

ESP:BEP Entry and Exit Requirements
For UQ programs requiring Academic IELTS 6.5 (no sub-bandscore less than
6.0) OR IBTOEFL 90 (21 for Writing, 20 for Speaking, Listening and Reading)

To apply for an English language pathway, submit a complete UQ program application to International Admissions.
You must include UQ accepted English language test results with your application. These will be used to calculate how many weeks you will need to study
English at ICTE-UQ and which of the following two English course options is right for you.
The ESP: Bridging English Program
(ESP:BEP) Pathway
ESP:BEP (10 weeks)
ESP:BEP is a 10-week course designed to develop the English language
skills you need to enter, and succeed at, UQ.
ESP:BEP entry requirements are listed below.
UQ Program Entry
To gain entry to your UQ program, you must achieve the ESP:BEP exit
(end of course) results below.
GE/EAP (variable length)
The GE/EAP pathway includes a variable number of weeks depending
on your individual English language ability. You will be tested on your frst
day at ICTE-UQ and placed in either a GE or EAP course and class level.
The table below provides an estimate of how long you will need to study
English at ICTE-UQ to reach the IELTS score needed to enter your
UQ program.
IELTS (or other UQ accepted) Test
At the end of your GE/EAP course you must sit a UQ accepted test
to demonstrate that you meet the English language profciency
requirements for your UQ degree program. ICTE-UQ administers
two-three IELTS test dates each month.
If you require further English language training you may be able to extend
your enrolment at ICTE-UQ.
