Biostatistics
Biostatistics is the specialised application of statistics (involving study design, data collection, data analysis and interpretation) to
the feld of health. These programs aim to fll the gap between programs in public health and epidemiology (which train users of
biostatistical methods, not professional biostatisticians) and general statistics programs (which do not cater for the diverse and
specialised needs in health research). There is an ongoing worldwide shortage of skilled biostatisticians.
