Occupational
Therapy
Studies
This program equips graduate entry students with the theoretical knowledge, clinical skills and professional attributes necessary
for a career in occupational therapy. In addition to a focus on clinical occupational therapy practice, emphasis is placed on
the use of prior skills and knowledge to enhance the effectiveness of occupational therapy practice; and the development
of advanced adult learning skills for ongoing professional development. First year focuses on the practice of occupational
therapy, interdisciplinary clinical studies in child health, psychiatry, and pathology, and directed study courses. Second year
covers management, research, and advanced clinical practice. This program will provide you with a professional qualifcation as an
occupational therapist.

Bachelor degree or equivalent in a feld (other than occupational therapy) such as health; education;
or social, physical or biological sciences, with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4 on a 7-point
scale. Entry is competitive based on GPA. You must also have completed pre-requisite courses in
statistics, human anatomy, social sciences and human physiology.
Quota: As a guide, 10 places are available.

Placements**: Full-time placements are of fve or 10 weeks duration and occur in the summer and second year of the program: you can nominate your interest and

their home country but must have an acceptable level of study performance.
Additional cost: Placement costs**, apply frst aid certifcate including CPR (approximately $155), clinical uniform (approximately $25-$100)
Physiotherapy
This program will provide you with the skills and knowledge for advanced clinical practice; and how to critically evaluate and
contribute to research in your clinical area (professional development in clinical specialty areas and research are major career
demands for physiotherapists). If you undertake a Master of Physiotherapy in either Musculoskeletal or Sports Physiotherapy you
could obtain a second masters degree in the alternate area through an additional semester of full-time coursework. Once you
graduate, you are eligible to pursue the fnal stage training for clinical specialisation within the Australian College of Physiotherapists.

careers in physiotherapy. You will possess an integrated body of knowledge, the clinical abilities, problem-solving skills and
professional attributes to provide competent physiotherapy service in a wide range of contexts; and will be committed to self-
learning and professional growth, in order to adapt to change and respond to challenge. You will develop an understanding of
the principles of scientifc method, critical analysis and research design and apply them to professional practice; and appreciate
the physiotherapist’s role in health promotion, injury prevention and effective treatment planning, implementation and evaluation.
This program will provide you with a professional qualifcation as a physiotherapist.
