Pre-Foundation Year English Pathway
Packages allow you to apply for a single
visa* that will cover your whole period
of study. This streamlines your study
application process and means that you
will save on visa processing costs by
not needing to extend visas between
study programs.
With a UNSW pathway package students receive the following
offers, all at the same time and on the one streamlined visa:
• an offer for a UNSW Institute of Languages English
Language program
• an offer for a UNSW Foundation Studies program
(may be conditional on English) and
• a provisional offer for their nominated UNSW undergraduate
degree program.
Our Pathway Package Offers include:
English Plus Program
Students whose English language score is IELTS 5.0 or
equivalent are invited to apply for our English Plus Program
that comprises both the UNSW Institute of Languages 10-week
Pre-Foundation Year English course and a Foundation Studies
program. English Plus can be packaged with your UNSW
undergraduate degree program on a single visa*.
On achieving the required English language score and
meeting the attendance requirements, students will proceed
into the Foundation Studies program at the end of the English
Plus Program.
Pre-Foundation Year English
English Refresher Program
Students who meet the English language and academic
requirements for entry may choose a 5-week English Refresher
Program to strengthen their English language skills before
beginning Foundation Studies. This program is most suited
to students who may have taken their IELTS test more than 6
months ago. The package combines a 5-week term of English
language with UNSW Foundation Studies and your UNSW
undergraduate degree, on a single visa*.
Other Pathway Package Programs
If your English language score is lower than 5.0 IELTS or
equivalent, or if you would prefer an English language program
that is longer than 10 weeks, you may be eligible for a Pathway
Package that combines a longer period of English language
study, Foundation Studies, and your UNSW undergraduate
degree, all on a single visa*.
The UNSW Institute of Languages is one of the largest and
most prestigious language centres in Australia. It offers a wide
range of specialist academic and general English courses.
Pre-Foundation Year English provides tuition in:
• study skills
• academic writing
• integrated language practice for future Foundation
Studies subjects
• speaking, discussion and pronunciation
• grammar
• IELTS test preparation – if desired.
