As an international student on
a student visa, you must be
covered by Overseas Student
Health Cover (OSHC) for the
duration of your studies.
Chisholm’s supplier of OSHC
is OSHC Worldcare, which is
owned and operated by the
global company Allianz. Policy
information is located at
www.oshcworldcare.com.au.
When you apply to Chisholm
you have the opportunity to
purchase an OSHC Worldcare
policy. By accepting and paying
for the OSHC Worldcare policy
with Chisholm, you are agreeing
to the terms, conditions and
policies on the OSHC Worldcare
website.
It is your responsibility to
ensure that your OSHC is
always paid for the duration of
your student visa.
The start date, end date, cost
and policy type are located on
your Letter of Offer.
Once you have accepted your
course, you will be able to visit
www.oshcworldcare.com.au
and order your card, which will
be posted to any Australian
address. You will need to show
your card when you visit a
doctor.
An example of the fee structure is shown in the table.

A single policy covers the student visa holder only.
A dual policy covers one student visa holder plus either one adult
spouse or one or more dependent children.
A multi policy covers one student visa holder plus more than one
dependant, which can only include one adult spouse and one or
more dependent children.
Using your OSHC policy
Your OSHC policy covers you when you need to visit a doctor or
go to a hospital. OSHC covers 100 per cent of the government
scheduled fee. Some doctors will charge slightly more than the
government scheduled fee.
You will also be covered if you are treated in a public hospital. OSHC
provides members with access to a 24/7 emergency phone service
that offers:
• Emergency medical advice and assistance
• An interpreter where necessary
• Referrals to doctors and medical centres
• Access to a solicitor for general legal advice and referrals
• Phone assistance to replace travel documents or passports.
To seek assistance from a doctor you will need to visit a medical
clinic. There are many suitable clinics that provide general and
specialist medical services located near Chisholm’s campuses. At
the clinic, you will need to register at reception and will be asked to
provide your contact information and OSHC details.
Not all medical services can be direct billed, so check with your
OSHC provider for the details of your cover.
Most medical clinics require
you to make an appointment to
see a doctor. The advantage of
making an appointment is that
you will be able to see a doctor
you prefer. If you don’t make an
appointment you may fnd you
have to wait many hours or may
even be asked to leave before
you get to see one.
