– Australian Government scholarships
– other scholarship opportunities including

Field of study scholarships
Individual UQ schools and faculties,
and some industry groups and private
sector organisations, offer scholarship
opportunities to high-achieving students.
Though scholarship opportunities at an
undergraduate level are limited, there are some
that are open to students who have completed
at least one year of study. Some faculties and
schools also offer entry scholarships to new-
to-UQ students. You should usually apply for
these in the year before commencing study
due to the extremely competitive nature of
the scholarships.

UQ Sport Scholarship Ambassador
Program
If you have represented at open, national
or international level in your chosen sport,
you can apply for the UQ Sport Scholarship
Ambassador Program, worth $1500 per year.

(AUSTRALIAAWARDS)
The Australian Government, through
the Australian Agency for International
Development (AusAID), provides a limited
number of undergraduate scholarship
opportunities for people from developing
countries wishing to undertake full-time
study in Australia.
The Australia Awards (awarded by AusAID)
aim to promote knowledge, education links
and enduring ties between Australia and
our neighbours through Australia’s extensive
scholarship programs.
By enabling students to gain tertiary
qualifcations, the Australia Awards aim
to equip recipients with the skills and
knowledge they need to drive change and
infuence the development outcomes of
their own country. The Awards may include
payment of tuition fees, airfares, living
allowance, and health cover for the student.
UQ is a participating institution and has
hosted Australian Government sponsored
students for more than 50 years. As well
as administering the scholarships on behalf
of AusAID, UQ offers extensive support to
students including:
– additional assistance from highly
experienced AusAID Student Contact
Offcers
– a comprehensive fve-week Introductory
Academic Program (IAP) held prior to the
International Student Orientation
– post IAP follow-on information sessions
to answer your questions after you get
started
– additional supplementary support
(if required) to assist you if you are
experiencing diffculty with your study.

OTHER SCHOLARSHIP
OPPORTUNITIES
Some international undergraduate
students at UQ are funded by
scholarships from their home
governments or other funding bodies.
For more information on these scholarships,
you should contact the Ministry of Education
or other appropriate government agency
directly in your home country.
Some multinational aid organisations
and other large corporations also provide
scholarship funding for international
students. If you wish to apply for assistance,
please contact the nominated administrator
within the organisation directly.
UQ Scholarships for International Students
Financial aid
UQ participates in and assists students to
apply for student loan programs offered
by their home countries to cover some
educational expenses while enrolled as
a full-time student in UQ programs. UQ
participates in a number of programs,
including the US Title IV Direct Loan
Programs, US Veterans Affairs Montgomery
GI Bill, US Sallie Mae and GEMS Private
Loans, Canadian Provincial and Federal
Loan programs, UK Career Development
Loan program, German Bafög, Norwegian
Lånekassen, Danish “SU” Education
Support Agency, and Swedish CSN Loans.
