Education
This one-year teacher preparation program is for students who already hold a tertiary degree. The program offers practical, school-
based learning and draws on the latest research into effective teaching methods, ensuring that you will be well equipped to meet
the challenges of a teaching career. You will learn to cooperatively and critically plan, design, implement and review relevant syllabi
including developing teaching and learning strategies and curriculum materials for promoting a socially just and inclusive society.

Additionally, tertiary studies must provide the prerequisites for the nominated teaching area/s.
Special note: You must submit a teaching area nomination form directly to the School of Education.
You will be required to complete an interview where the teaching areas are languages other than
English or music, or if you are from a non-English speaking background.

Placements: 75 days of supervised practicum scheduled in two extended blocks (seven to eight weeks) – one in each semester of the program: blue card required.

development needs and in-service requirements of teachers and administrators. If you already hold an appropriate tertiary
qualifcation and want to become qualifed to teach in secondary schools, you should apply for admission to the Graduate
